Residents usually train for 3-4 months and Fellows usually train for 9-12 months

The McMaster Faculty of Health Sciences Post Graduate Medical Education office will guide you through the application process. The IOP team will prepare you for your arrival in Canada. The IOP will make arrangements for your accommodations during your stay, transportation to and from the Toronto International (Pearson) airport, personal medical insurance application, transportation (bus) within the City of Hamilton, orientation and licensing fees

You will receive orientation to the area by Mr. Finn Nielson after your arrival in Canada. Daily communications will be via our administrative assistant, Ms. Dana Gordon

In the summer month from June – September, daytime temperatures range from 20C- 35C.

In the spring and fall months, daytime temperatures range from 10C-20C

In the winter months (December– March) daytime temperatures range from -10C- 2C

Learners are provided a furnished bedroom with access to a washroom and a kitchen in an apartment either close to St. Joseph’s Healthcare or the Juravinski Hospital (Hamilton Health Sciences) in Hamilton. There will be other learners sharing the apartment complex. Each learner is assigned their own bedroom. Depending on your clinical rotation, you may be required to take local transit (bus) to and from your apartment to the training hospital. Amenities are located near the apartments. You will be provided with an IOP handbook that includes information about your accommodations prior to your arrival to Hamilton.
